HOW TO KICK MONDAY'S ASS

 

 

Got the Monday blues? Sad its so far from Friday? WELL LOOK NO FARTHER THAN THIS BLOG TO TURN YOUR MONDAY INTO THE BEST DAY OF YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE (probably)

 

1.     Get caffeinated, get motivated, and DON’T hit that snooze button- If youre anything like me, your phone alarm consists of around 8-12 alarms with 5 minute intervals to assure I wake up on time.  Basically, the first 3 alarms are a practice run where I tap snooze, BUT NO LONGER!  The Stanford sleep study says that by hitting the snooze button, you are telling your body false alarm!  This results in a more groggy and slow wakeup than if we just went ahead and got up when the alarm goes off.  like coffee? Sweet we will get along great.  Grab your double shot of espresso and get your mind right.  The worst mindset to have on a Monday is “how far away is Friday.”  Honestly, every day we have is a blessing, acting like it helps.  Smile at someone, compliment someone, take a chance on something.

2.     Get ACTIVE- Get those endorphins going!  I’m sure we have all heard the saying “don’t miss a Monday.” TRY IT!  If possible, workout early on a Monday, it always puts me in a good mood and keeps my energy levels high throughout the morning and day.  In fact, there are studies done by the Harvard Business Review that states exercise helps motivate and improve work performance, while also pulling us out of a slump.  So, get that heart rate up and kick start your Monday!

3.     Make a to-do list- make a quantifiable list.  By this I mean a list that is specific, realistic, attainable goals.  It could start with something as easy as making your bed.  So why are lists so beneficial you ask?!?  When we complete a task, like on a to do list, our brain releases dopamine.  Which is proven to connect to our feelings of pleasure, learning, AND motivation.  When we check things off a list and get that feeling, we want to do it again!  Crazy how that works right?! Our bodies want to continually feel that release of dopamine therefore we keep checking things off our lists.  BOOM SCIENCE.

4.     Control your mindset- Ever set your alarm at 4 am and wonder if your current job is even worth it anymore?  I understand that feeling, I have lived that feeling.  There were mornings when I first started personal training that I considered changing professions because there is no way the human body was designed to wakeup any time before 8 am ya feel me?! Then something changed, I watched a Gary V video that changed my entire mindset (watch it HERE).  Basically, this video laid out the fact that if we want success, our mindset is everything... So, I tried it, I woke up at 4am with the mindset that this day will lead me one step closer to my success. Boom, it changed everything.  I went from waking up unhappy with life to waking up realizing that I’m alive, and I have a chance to do something amazing. Have you ever just sat back and realized how lucky we are to simply by alive??? Like our parents could’ve gotten it on like 3 minutes later(giggity) or our ancestors could have died from the black plague leading to us not existing but they didn’t. we are ALIVE and we have a chance to do WHATEVER we want in this world.  Approach Monday with that mindset and watch how our lives change.
