cardi-NO and why its necessary

ooo cardio its been too long. For myself and most that I talk to cardio is a hate- hate relationship. This is completely understandable since it is absolutely miserable.  The goal of this post is to give tips and examples on how to maximize your cardio efforts so that you don't waste your time. Personally, my goal is to maximize fat loss during cardio.  Here's some ways to make it to where you aren't wasting your efforts.

1. DO FASTED CARDIO- I know there are a bunch of studies debating wether or not fasted cardio is beneficial or not. Personally, I think it's amazing, and know it works well for my body.  The idea behind fasted cardio is as follows.  When we wake up we are in fasted state.  This means that our body is depleted of resources.  So when we do intense cardio in our fasted state you body will target the highest energy sources in your body.  these sources are muscle and fat.  To combat too much muscle being burned make sure to have BCAA's handy, these will help you hold onto that muscle during fasted cardio and force your body to target those hard to reach fat storage areas.

2. HIIT cardio - One of my personal favorites.  With HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) you can literally dominate a workout in about 15-20 minutes.  The goal should be to get your heart rate to 70%-85% of you max heart rate(220-age).  This will be the zone best for maximizing fat loss.  A good hit workout example is as follows; 8 rounds- 16 kettle bell swings, 32 jumping jacks, 64 combat rope slams, 128 jump ropes.  Another easy one is simply getting on the treadmill and repeating 30 second walk, 30 second jog, 30 second sprint, until you no longer are physically able.

These are two of my personal favorite cardio options that do not lead me into depression.  They typically range anywhere from 15-20 minutes.  Can easily fit into our busy daily schedules!:)
